He went on to complete advanced training in burn and reconstructive surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine, followed by plastic surgery training through the SUNY program at Nassau University Medical Center and the Long Island Plastic Surgical Group — one of the nation’s most established plastic surgery institutions.

Prior to entering private practice, Dr. Koumanis served as Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at Albany Medical Center, where he treated complex trauma cases and mentored surgical trainees. From 2006 to 2010, he held the role of Director of Burn and Plastic Surgery Trauma. Today, he maintains hospital privileges at Saratoga Hospital, Glens Falls Hospital, Ellis Hospital, and Albany Medical Center, and continues to provide trusted, high-quality care to patients across upstate New York.
